Fourth of July at the Beach!

So this year's 4th of July was really fun! Skylar took a day off of selling and we got to spend the day together! First we started off by sleeping in (not like we don't already get to do that, but it was still nice). Then we got our things together, had the guys over for grilled cheese sandwiches and we were off to the BEACH! :) It was perfect! The weather was just right and I was really surprised how similar a lake beach is to the ocean beaches. The sand was soft and the water was the perfect temperature! It was also nice because there was no salt to deal with, and no seaweed! Two bonuses right there! The guys had fun throwing mud at each other and building sand castles (do boys ever grow up?). I of course was thrown into the water by Skylar like a million times, he thinks I'm like a toy or something!? Haha, but all in all, we got some sun and had a great day! We finished up the night by going out to dinner with the office and watching a fireworks show! Yay for 4th of July!

This boy LOVES the water!
Check out the farmers tan! Haha
 The group!
Little boys at heart!
Would you even know that we're brother and sister? He's SO tan!

Fun day with friends and family :)

Michigan fun :)

Wow has the summer gone by fast. Only 3 weeks from now and I'll be in India! I can't wait! But as of lately I've been pretty busy and so has Skylar. We've moved to Grand Rapids, Michigan from Indiana and it's been good so far.
Who knew 2 people could have so much stuff! Whoops :)
Dinkis likes to help me pack up too!
Grand Rapids is a neat little city, although I haven't seen very much of it. The cool thing about Michigan is you'll have the city, and then you'll have beautiful forests close by, lakes in every direction, and even beaches! Who knew? Beaches in Michigan!!

So it's been fun exploring the area and finding things to do. The newest thing the guys like to do is go bowling. I think we've gone like 3 times since we've been here! Haha, gotta find ways to stay entertained I guess.

I was able to go to a 2 week Paul Taylor dance intensive in Ann Arbor. So I hopped on a train and headed out to Ann Arbor. The intensive was at the University of Michigan and it was fun to explore a new campus. It is so big, I couldn't believe it! All in all,  it was wonderful and I learned so much. My body was dead by the end of it, but it was well worth it. It was fun to meet new people and because the group was so small, we really got to know each other! While I was gone Skylar survived, of course I came home and the house looked way worse than when I left it. Haha, guess I should've expected that!

So I only have a couple of weeks out here and then it's back to Utah and off to India! I am getting really excited, but I'm realizing how much I need to do before I go! I better get to it! :)

Life Back East

So this year, summer sales has proven to be quite eventful so far. We've been out here in Elkhart for about a month and already Skylar has some crazy stories to tell. The guys have been traveling to all the little cities around the area, and for some reason the cops really just don't like them sometimes. Unfortunately, Skylar has had two incidents where he's been handcuffed, which always makes for a great story at dinner that night. But they soon realize he's not causing problems and let him go. Oh the life of a door to door salesman! He definitely goes into some interesting places and meets some interesting people. But all in all, the summer has been good, here's some of our adventures so far!

We got to celebrate our 1st Anniversary together on May 7th! We couldn't believe a year had gone by already. Skylar surprised me and took me on a fancy date! It was really fun!

It said Happy Anniversary in the Menu!

We had an office BBQ in the park on Mother's Day with all the guys and techs. It was fun just to relax and hang out together.

 Skylar grillin' some burgers!
Kara and Haylee playing, so cute!

We got to take a trip to Chicago for some amazing pizza! I don't think I've ever seen a pizza so massive and full of cheese before. It was delicious and we were all stuffed afterwards. That was our first time in Chicago!

Got to love every city and its quirks. Elkhart has these giant painted Elks all over the city. We had to get a picture with one!
 Pretty Botanic Gardens

Haha, oh Dinkis...me and this guy have fun together! He was playing with the fire in the candle and I thought it was really funny.

Skylar and some of his guys by the S. S. Ghetto! Why am I sending my husband here everyday?

Me and the other wives have had fun exploring some of the Amish Country! We went to a little place called Shipshewana which was so cute with horse and buggies all over the place! I had the best pie I've ever had in my life I think, amish made chocolate and peanut-butter, doesn't get any better! Mmm. We also found this Old Bag Factory in Goshen too. Just part of the summer adventures!

And of course, there's laying by the pool. Wouldn't be summer without that :)

So this is the last of our adventures here in Elkhart, IN. We will be going to Grand Rapids, MI which seems like a really neat city. I'm excited for all the fun things we will find there!

Welcome to Elkhart, Indiana

Wow, so I discovered that I am a terrible blogger. It's been almost a year since my last post, but I've decided to be better. I guess the school year is just so busy, I forget about it! But now it is summer again, and I've got all the time in the world. But here we are again, another summer of security sales and we're in Indiana! In a little town called Elkhart. The first two weeks we were out here we were just in a normal hotel. Talk about claustrophobia! That hotel room looked smaller and smaller everyday. Luckily the staff was so friendly, they got to know all of us because we were there for so long. They'd leave the breakfast open a little longer so we could sleep in and they even had warm chocolate chip cookies set out every night! So neat! Gotta love nice and friendly people who brighten your day. It was kinda nice to not have anything to do, I read a book for fun for the first time in a really long time! I read the Hunger Game's series. So intense, I could not put it down!
Seriously, I think I'm notorious for always being late on reading really great books. It's okay though, I've accepted it. Anyways, it seems to be a nice little place and I definitely can't complain about our living conditions. We're in an extended stay hotel and I'm not gonna lie, I could get used to living like this! It's like a small apartment with all the sweet amenities! Complimentary breakfast every morning, and dinners 3 times a week. Not to mention they clean everything for you, I could have them make my bed everyday if I wanted them too! It's going to be quite a reality check when I have to actually start cleaning again. Oh well, for now I'll just live it up, because when am I ever going to really get to live like this again? Haha! So here's to summer sales and all the adventures I get to encounter while my sweet hubby works all day. I can tell it's going to be a good summer! It's always nice to be surrounded by great people! Oh and can't forget about little Dinkis. I think we have the best pet ever, because I don't think any other cat would fly on an airplane all day and be okay living in a hotel room.

Me and Dinkis

So this is Dinkis...our wonderful, crazy, curious kitten.

He is a little orange ball of fur...full of endless energy and has quite a fiery personality! We got him when he was only 5 weeks old. Skylar saved him from trailer life and he came and joined our family! He has been my friend and someone to play with while Skylar is gone all day. He's a cute little guy and we love his quirkiness!

Dinkis enjoys chewing on shoelaces, playing with his toys, running around the house, he goes crazy over his kitty treats, and loves eating and being involved in whatever Skylar and I are doing. He really is a Dinkis and sometimes falls off the couch and runs into walls and other such things! Skylar came up with the name, for he likes to call me a Dinkis. So its nice for me, cause I don't get called it as much now ;)

One of our favorite games to play...haha, it just never gets old!

All in all, we love the little kitty even if he is a "Dinkis!" He brings us joy and laughs and has been my little friend all summer. He is a good kitten, doesn't damage or scratch the couch, but is known to nibble at toes and fingers! Don't worry, we're training him...gotta love the spray bottle technique. Let's just say sometimes he ends up really wet! :)

This weeks adventures

Well this weeks adventures consisted of Harry Potter movie marathons, midnight showings, fondue desserts, and a little Sunday dinner mishap! Quite the eventful week for sure. Skylar and I wanted to watch all of the Harry Potter movies before the newest one came out. So every day I run over to the local Blockbuster and grab a HP movie. Me and the guy who works there have now become good friends! Haha. On Thurs we went to the midnight showing, for those of you who don't know I am married to a Harry Potter nerd! ;) He LOVES the series and was soo excited for the new movie! He had it as a calendar event in his phone for like months!

This is his "I'm so excited for Harry Potter face!"

His newest dream vacation is to visit Harry Potter World in Orlando! Oh my... funny boy!

So after our late nights with HP we went to a fun little place called The Melting Pot. It's a fondue restaurant and we got this great dessert :)

mmm...yummy!
So here's a good story for ya. Well let's just say anytime I cook, something always has to go wrong. Usually it's just something small and not a big deal, but Sunday was a little ordeal. So Skylar was taking a nap and I went to go check on the roast that was cooking in the oven. We only have one oven mitt, so I decided to use a towel as another one. Well the oven mitt fell out of my hand and onto the bottom of the oven. Me being the bright person I am decided to grab it with the towel. Big mistake! Towel caught on fire, so now the oven mitt and towel are burning in my hand. I scream "Fire!" waking Skylar up from his nap. I don't really know what to do with it, so I start waving it around thinking it'll go out...well that didn't happen. Eventually I throw it in the sink and turn the water on. Skylar comes running in and dumps water on the burning mess and puts it out. Meanwhile I am holding the kitty while all of this madness is going on. All in all, I ended up with a burnt and wet oven mitt and towel, a scalded counter-top, and an unhappy to be woken up husband. So that was our Sunday, in case you're wondering the roast turned out great! :)

We Have a Blog!

Yup, that's right! I finally succumbed to join in this whole blogging world! I figured with enough time on my hands this summer, I might as well. Not like we have loads of stuff going on other than Skylar working and me just hanging out all day, but hey... it gives me something to do right? I'm not going to lie, I am like so new at this and kind of don't know what's going on, but it's alright! I am slowly figuring it all out. (It took me like 4 days just to figure out the whole layout deal, haha). But I'll catch on soon enough. Don't expect like tons of posts all the time, but I will do my best to keep you guys informed on how we're doing in good ole Detroit!

P.S. For those of you who don't know, I cut my hair to like my chin and we have a new little kitten named Dinkis (further explanation for his name will come later!)
